The Liverpool Boys are in Town - The Birth of Terrace Culture

Dave Hewitson's classic book has been totally re-designed.

For those who haven't seen it before it covers the period of '77 to '82 in Liverpool and how this casual culture started out as just fashion before trips to europe involved bringing back adidas never before seen here plus sportswear unavailable back home.

It includes loads of pics, many different ones added from the previous book. There's a few more tales also. Being a social historical document of the said years, the book now has added content including Peter Hooton's take on the un-documented retro-scal look, which fused the listening of prog-rock icons such as Gabriel's Genesis, Pink Floyd and Zappa with a large intake of pot and an attire of clothing without a logo on show.

Numerous photos have been added giving a timeline of the ever changing fashion from the early days of Peter Storm cagoules, Slazenger jumpers and adidas Samba to a period of Fila/Borg tennis gear and adidas Trimm Trab brought back from European awaydays. The birth of terrace culture as we now know it is covered in fine detail by also taking into account the whole culture including a look at the modes of transport [transalpino, the ordinary and the special] as well as the Liverpool nightlife and shops of the time. Before this period sportswear was hardly ever worn on the streets particulary trainers.

This was a period that has changed the high street totally and is now known as the last great revolution in men's clothing.
